Born in New York City, Nicole Peskin studied art at Wellesley, but found herself drawn to MIT's Center fro Advanced Visual Studies. There she became intrigued by possibility of using technology in art. From Cambridge, she traveled to the Navajo reservation to absorb and reflect the power of the stunning desert environment. She continued her education at the University of Arizona, where she did graduate work in Set Design. There, she learned to weld and began making delicate lamps and furniture, which led to her attending the Penland School of Crafts to learn Blacksmithing. Now, in her studio in Pittsfield, she creates sculpture and furniture from scrap metal and glass. "Going to the scrap yard is like going to CHURCH. It seems the universe and me are in sync in the locus of a scrapyard."
